Reachbeam Host
A free companion app for your computer. It sends its picture and sound to Reachbeam on your iPhone, iPad or Android device and takes your touch, keyboard and iPad Apple Pencil (Pro) input back — over RBP, Reachbeam's own encrypted protocol.
Free · Mac (Apple silicon), Windows and Linux
Stay tuned.
What you get
- Smooth hardware video (HEVC/H.264) at up to 120 fps — as fast as your screen refreshes — with low latency that adapts to Wi-Fi, mobile and tunnel connections.
- High-quality 48 kHz stereo sound from your computer on your phone or tablet — on or off per connection.
- Full Apple Pencil support on iPad (with Reachbeam Pro): pressure, tilt and hover, plus squeeze and double-squeeze on Apple Pencil Pro.
- Experimental: the keyboard can open by itself when you tap a text field on the computer (turn it on in Settings).
- Clipboard both ways. Password-manager items are never sent.
- Unlock a locked Mac from your phone.
Set up in 3 steps
1. Install
Install Reachbeam Host on your computer.
2. Open it
On a Mac it asks only for what's missing: Screen Recording, and Accessibility for mouse and keyboard. Local Network only if macOS blocks it.
3. Done
It starts at login, runs quietly in the menu bar or system tray and updates itself.
Pair your phone or tablet
1. In Reachbeam, tap + to add a connection.
2. Choose the protocol “RBP — Reachbeam Host” and pick your computer.
3. Check that the 6-digit code matches on both screens, then click Allow on the computer.
Private by design
Pairing keys are bound to your device (Secure Enclave on iPhone, Keystore on Android) and every session proves them again. Everything is encrypted with ChaCha20-Poly1305. No accounts, no cloud relay — it works on your local network or through your own Tailscale or Cloudflare tunnel.
